U-12 County Football League 2012. What a fantastic start to the Lee Strand Co.League.Listry U-12’s travelled to Knocknagoshel on Sunday April the 15th and came away with a great win.
This was a great team performance with great defending and clever use of the ball by the forwards.Micheal Buckley was outstanding in goal.High or low Micheal was brave and his kick-outs were perfectly placed to the wing. The Buckley name has been a part of Listry since the founding of the club in 1932 and it’s great to see Micheal continuing the tradition.Seamus Giles and Eoin O’Donnell were our full back line. Seamus is made of great stuff and has the skill to go around if he has to, but it’s nice to see him bursting straight out,a great game Seamus. Eoin O’Donnell is mister cool, goes about his job without any fuss.Eoin fielded some great ball over his head, scrapped for everything on the ground and always has a strong kick to relieve the pressure.Didn’t put a foot wrong all night, well done Eoin. The half backs were Ciara Tangney and Ronan Buchanan.Ciara Tangney, again another famous Listry surname, had a super game.Ciara was always in front of her marker and was brilliant at defending the left side of the field.Ronan is a lovely footballer and always available to turn defence into attack.Great going forward Ronan and you mopped up everything on the right wing, great game. Our midfield was shared between Barry Keane,Mairead Lehane and Mark O’Brien.Barry was majestic in the air, took his scores and made the tackles when he had to.Great all round performance Barry.Mairead is just fantastic she just keeps going and going.Mairead is tenacious and a great team player, take a bow Mairead you didn’t put a foot wrong all night.Mark is a classy player, has a great sidestep and as always gave everything he had for the team.Mark covers every inch of the pitch and had a great game again. The half forwards were Killian Broderick and Joseph Courtney.Killian showed great pace and used it to great effect throughout the game.Killian and Joseph linked up very well together and it was nice to watch.Joseph is a great strong player and has a great eye for the posts, you can be very proud of your performance Joseph. At full forward we had Cian O’Sullivan.Cian is the most improved player on the Listry team and had a brilliant game against Knocknagoshel.Cian held the ball very well and laid off the passes right and left.Cian rounded off a great night with a few scores of his own, great stuff Cian. As you can see Listry only had 11 players. The score at half time was listry 3-8 Knock.0-3 and the final score was Listry 5-11 Knocknagoshel 1-9.Now we didn’t even have a sub.!Great performance. Some of our players were sick, but, some just didn’t travel, which is a pity.I ask all parents to reply to club texts and please encourage your kids to train and play with their team-mates. Thank you to Sean Walsh and Bernard Murphy for training the team and having them so well prepared.Thank you to all the fantastic parents who travelled and supported the team.Thank you to the clubs best young supporters Jack Walsh and Sean O’Sullivan, well done boys.
