On the 10th September the Milltown/Listry ladies U-16 team
won the Co.league Div.4 final. They played a great Glenflesk team in the
final at the Legion field in Direen on a very windy evening.Glenflesk
had the wind in the first half and deserved to be ahead at half-time by
5 points.Mill/Listry played with great heart in the second half, scored
two great goals and kicked some delightful points. After a late
Glenflesk rally the girls held on to win a great final by 2 points. This
was a great victory for Mill/Listry U-16 ladies who won all their
league games to reach the final.Hard luck to Glenflesk, your day will
come.
Congratulations to Listry’s Darragh O’Regan who trained the team.
Darragh did a fantastic job with this team,he brought organisation,
discipline,structure,confidence,respect, fitness,teamwork and the
football skills to be successful.Darragh was assisted by Listry’s
Claire O’Sullivan and again Claire proved to be very capable of
training a team.Claire is a student in U.C.C. and was available to help
the team whenever the time allowed it. I hope Darragh and Claire will
continue to train/manage Listry teams and we can look forward to more
success in the future.Well done to Listry girls Elana Horgan,Aoife
Broderick,Katie Hunt and Niamh Mannix, all members of the team.Thank you
Sarah O’Sullivan, physiotherapist from Listry, who assisted the girls on
the evening and that was very much appreciated by all the girls.
Thank you to Michael and Joan O’Sullivan of O’Sullivans
Foodstore and Farm Supplies,Beaufort bridge for the generous
sponsorship of the Mill/Listry ladies U-16 team.
Thank you to all who supported the team,to Noel Kennedy and
Anthony Clifford for the use of our great pitch in Listry. UP LISTRY
