Listry/Keel U-16’s played their first game in the east Kerry league on Mon.18th March. Unfortunately they were beaten by Rathmore 2-12 to 1-8 but, sometimes the result isn’t everything. Derry Ahearn, Ian Foley, Mike Cooper and Brian McCarthy were looking at this bunch of players playing together for the first time. The team were a little nervous in the first half which was understandable, with a lot of players in unfamiliar positions, but, as the half ended the older guys Dara Lehane, James Courtney, Aaron Murphy and Jamie Lynch got to grips with the game and the younger players especially Peadar Keane who kicked 2 great points and won a penalty seemed to grow in confidence. Listry/Keel played a lot better in the second half and credit for this must go to the selectors who continued to tweek the team and always offered great advice from the sideline. Well done to the U-16 panel, everyone played their part on the day and we finished the game with a great point from Kieran Hobbins and a super goal by Jamie Lynch. I’ll ask all the panel to work hard at training, listen to the excellant advise from the coaches and you will all become much better footballers.
Thank you to all the great parents from Keel and Listry for supporting the team.
