Listry  senior team achieved promotion to Div 3 of the county league after a pulsating game with Na Gaeil in Farranfore on Sat evening last. Listry won 1-10 to 1-8. Na Gaeil went into a 4 point to nil lead early in the first half and a great save by Colm Counihan prevented them from extending this before Anthony Sweeney  opened Listry’s account with the first of his 4 points from his position at full back. Derry Ahearn scored a great goal which settled Listry and they went on to lead by the minimum at half time. Na Gaeil again started the second half the better and took the lead after a rather fortunate goal.  Na Gaeil led 1-8 t0 1-6 with just 3 minutes left but a great finish by Listry saw them score 4 points without reply to secure victory and that promotion place. Well done to all involved and with a higher grade of football next year maybe a novice championship will be a possibility for 2013.
