On Saturday 2nd July Listry B played Austin Stacks C in Ballymac GAA pitch. This was the final of the Co. Junior/Development Shield final. A strong cross field wind made scoring difficult. A hotly contested first half saw Listry ahead by 7 points to 3. Jack Walsh scored 3 points ,John Foley  1 ,Patrick Broderick 1and James Dowd 2 frees.  Unfortunately Listry lost Kieran Murphy to a red card in the first half. This was totally out of character for Kieran who has been outstanding this year for the Junior team. Micheál Keane was introduced at centre back and half forward Padraic O Sullivan who didn’t put a foot wrong was unlucky to lose out because of playing with 14 men. At half time the boys were determined to win for Kieran.  Austin Stacks started the second half well and scored a goal and a point to level the scores. James Dowd responded scoring a free. Stacks were holding possession and Listry had to be disciplined in the tackle. Great defending by goalkeeper Anthony Sweeney, full back line of Denis O Leary, Joe Clifford Ballymalis and Cian O Donoghue were rock solid. Inspirational defending by Seamus Giles and the confidence of Micheál Keane and Cain Bradley kept a good supply of ball to the forwards. Forwards John Foley and Jack Walsh were fantastic all evening, taking on the Stacks defence at every opportunity.  Patrick Broderick was working extremely hard and battled for every lose ball. Micheál Buckley has a great attitude with great battling qualities. Killian Broderick was introduced for the injured Dylan Brennan. Dylan is a fine strong man and battled bravely. Jamie Lynch came on for Patrick Broderick after Patrick ran himself to a standstill. Stephen Brosnan and James Dowd worked extremely hard at mid field.  Listry had a lot of wides in the second half but it didn’t dampen their enthusiasm.  A great catch from Stephen Brosnan and another super bit of fielding from Seamus Giles provided the platform for the victory. John Foley scored  3 points from play and Listry were victorious. 

The final score was Listry B 0-11, Austin Stacks C 1-6. Listry captain Jack Walsh accepted the shield and acknowledged the contribution of Austin Stacks and thanked the Referee Eddie Barret and the Co. Board.
