On Sunday the 5th of August a dream for every kid in Kerry became a reality for Listry player Gary O’Sullivan when he wore the Kerry jersey in Croke Park.Gary from Beaufort bridge(must change that to Listry bridge) is a member of the Kerry minor football team and came on in the second half to secure victory over Roscommon in the All- Ireland quarter final.Gary, just as he did in the Munster final secured possession of the ball and played it in nicely to the forwards. It was great to see so many Listry faces in Croke Park and there was a great cheer from the Cusack stand when Gary burst onto the field.
In my section of the stand we had Brenda and Joseph Courtney,Seamus Hobbins, Conor and Mathew Keane,Dara O’Shea,Carol,Aoife and Killian Broderick, John O’Donghue and the girls from Rockfield.I met Jerome and Brian Kennedy, the Lehane’s from Lahard, I heard Tony,Miriam,James and Tom O’Dowd,Danny and Jeremy Wrenn,Paul and Aaron O’Shea,Siobhan,Peader, Barry and Micheal Keane, were all there to support Gary O’Sullivan and Peter Keane.A fantastic day and I’m sure there were a lot more Listry people in Croke Park as well and I thank you all for the support. It was also a great day for our own Peter Keane,Kerry minor selector,a good man on the line and a great supporter of all Listry teams. Best of luck to Gary and Peter in the All-Ireland semi-final v Dublin and please God we will have lots of support from Listry again.
It was Joseph Courtney’s first trip to Croke Park and fair play to his mom Brenda she made sure we all had a good time and bought souvenirs for all the kids. Thank you to all the under-age coaches who helped to make Gary a Kerry minor.
