A close encounter between the top two teams in this division resulted in a one point win for the home side Listry. The winning point was in fact scored by Jimmy O Leary from a free 2 minutes into injury time. This game was close all trough with never more than 2 points between the sides. Desmonds started the better and were 2 pts to the good after 10 minutes when Listry then responded with a point on the 11th minute and followed with the most crucial score of the game a goal from Derry Ahern in the 12th minute. This put Listry a point up and they were never headed after this. Half time score Listry 1-3 Desmonds 0-5. Listry continued to dominate from the start of the second half and were almost in complete control of the game but failed to score kicking 6 wide’s during this time. A point from a free in the 48th minute from Derry Ahern was the only score from this period of dominance. Desmonds got their first score of the second half 2 minutes later to reduce the difference to the minimum once again. Desmonds drew the game with a pointed free on the stroke of full time but Listry won the kick out and again registered a wide but from the kick out they again won possession and were awarded a free which resulted in the winning score. Danny Wrenn had an outstanding game at full back for Listry and Paul Kennedy along with Jimmy O Leary dominated midfield. Maurice Hickey tried hardest for Desmonds. This win puts Listry on top with 11 points.
