U-8/10 Trip to Kenmare
On Sunday 30th of September 2012 our under 8/10 boys and girls travelled to Kenmare. We played very enjoyable games against Kenmare Shamrocks at 11.am.This was an early start for our young players and even though the weather wasn’t great our Listry stars played with great heart. With the weather improving,so did our football skills and I congratulate our u-8 boys and girls and our u-10 boys and girls for wearing the jersey and keeping the Listry flag flying high.
After the games all the Listry players received goody bags and thank you to Peter and Siobhan Keane SuperValu Killorglin for the preparation and presentation of the goody bags.
At 12.30 we headed for the pier and a two and a half cruise down Kenmare bay on the Seafari. Our Captain on the Seafari was Raymond Ross and he gave us a great commentary on the flora and fauna of the area.
The highlight of the trip was watching the seals as they sun bathed on the rocks. We played traditional music for the seals and even had a traditional song from one of the guides.Tea and coffee was served with biscuits and more sweets and lolipops for the kids. For anyone feeling a little chill, a tot of rum was served and was much appreciated. As we viewed the magnificent scenery we headed back to the pier and I think we all agreed Kerry is a great place to live in.
Thank you to the 45 kids and 35 adults who travelled to Kenmare under the Listry banner.Thank you to the great Listry footballers and thank you to the great parents for supporting your kids.Thank you to Pa Murphy for coaching the U-10 team and Tony O’Dowd,Richard Walsh, Catriona O’Donoghue,Marie Willoughby and John Mannix for looking after the U-8s.
Thank you to former Listry great Tim Allman, now living in Kenmare, for organising the games and for the snacks after the game.Thank you to Raymond Ross for a great cruise on the SEAFARI. Hope you all had a great day,up Listry!,
